Several days into the new year, I found myself saying yes to a trip with strangers, visiting my second home and seeing a group of people I consider family, and holding onto literal and figurative rocks for dear life while my friends and I stand on top of rolling slopes and mountains.

Risks. I guess we‘re all taking risks by just presenting ourselves and our work out there where anyone can judge our thoughts and ideas that were once only ours.

But if there is one thing climbing my first mountain and going on my first trip with strangers ingrained in me, it‘s trust. We will always have bad and uninspired days. Putting ourselves in a vulnerable state by expressing and presenting tiny parts and pieces of who we are, the need or desire to crumble will be inevitable. But trust that this is all part of the process—this is all part of getting there. We may slip and fall on our backs as we attempt to hold on, and we may even look silly with our feeble attempts, but it‘s better to show how much we want something that we‘re going to do whatever it takes to get it even if it means letting go of our inhibitions and just trusting the journey than staying still and safe.

The climb was not easy at all, but going through it with friends who are as passionate about travel and discovery as you and seeing His grand work surrounding your seemingly insignificant and tiny self made all the mini heart attacks, burnt skin, and body pain worth it. It was challenging, risky, and fearful but trust me—it was beyond rewarding.
